Job Purpose 

The position is responsible for legal support to the Group Legal Advisor and Company Secretary.



Key Accountabilities:
  1. Manage the processes to ensure that Group subsidiary companies are complying with the Companies Act 2006 and all other relevant legislation and regulations under the supervision of the Company Secretary; includes arranging meetings, taking minutes and dealing with statutory returns;
  2. Manage CoSec database for W Lucy & Co and its subsidiaries
  3. Casework, including reviews of terms and conditions in supply only and turnkey contracts with experience of the engineering sector, advice on contract obligations and indemnities, reviewing and negotiating software licensing and technology licensing contracts
  4. Legal research, including company, employment and contract law, drafting contracts and advising in house clients. Researching updates on new legislative changes and their effects, and keeping abreast of compliance related issues e.g. the Bribery Act
  5. Manage the Group's trademark database and deal with licences and assignments
  6. Manage sales and purchases of units on the Eagle Works and Island site developments for the resident management companies, deal with pre contract enquiries, prepare information packs for purchasers of units and deal with post completion associated administration
  7. Maintain Original Docs system in Excel and update on a regular basis
 Secondary activities / tasks
  1. To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required / instructed in order to maintain and / or improve the efficiency, quality and service provided by the Exec Department.
  2. To undertake business travel abroad or within the UK as and when required.

Experience Knowledge & Skills

 

  • 2years + qualified solicitor;
  •  Experience in the engineering and manufacturing sectors
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • An understanding of the principles of drafting and negotiating contractual documents, highlighting risks and protecting the business
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

 Qualifications

 

  • Degree standard or equivalent- Law
  • Post graduate qualification in the Legal Practice Course
