Technical Marketing Manager - Switchgear

Job Purpose
Develop the switchgear product offering within Lucy Electric by
executing a cross functional role embracing business development
and technical marketing. This will involve close liaison with
research & development and contract engineering departments as
well as testing. The successful candidate will drive overall
technical development strategy leading to enhanced sales and
increased business performance.
Key Accountabilities:
- To carry out market analysis and formulate strategy for
penetration in new market areas.
- To create market plans and associated action plans to achieve
sales growth in these markets in association with
existing sales team.
- Liaise with research and development in UK regarding product
specifications and new product developments. Advise engineering
with regard to market trends and requirements and drive product
innovation and development
- Develop and manage technical files for products and specific
markets including carrying out technical reviews of detailed
customer specifications
- Provide technical and commercial support for sales in the
tendering process as required.
- Be an important part of the Global Sales & Marketing
management team and work positively and energetically with other
functional managers.
- Establish comprehensive product knowledge base across key
product areas
- A Work with Overseas Operations team in supporting partners,
JVs and licensees with detailed product and market knowledge.
- Assist in training/familiarisation of staff and customers in
switchgear product groups.

Attend exhibitions and sales visits on behalf of the Company in
the UK and overseas as required
Dimensions:
The role will necessitate a dual base, operating at both Banbury
and Thame in the UK. Visits to switchgear sourcing, manufacturing
facilities and customers in overseas locations will also be
required.
Secondary Activities / Tasks
- To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required
/ instructed in order to maintain and / or improve the efficiency,
quality and service provided by the Sales & Marketing
Department.
- To undertake business travel abroad or within the UK as and
when required.
Experience Knowledge & Skills
Essential
Functional Competencies
- Experience in marketing & specifying electrical and or
mechanical products, systems and solutions to large industrial
users.
- Knowledge of business development methods and experience of
spec-in techniques to large organisations.
- Sound understanding of contract terms and conditions
- Competent in using all Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word
and Outlook)
Desirable
- A knowledge of electrical distribution systems and dealing with
the electrical utilities in the UK or overseas.
- Working knowledge of other languages
Behavioural competencies
- Excellent contract and people management skills
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise and
work to tight deadlines
Other Requirements
- Degree in electrical, mechanical or electronic engineering
- Formalised Marketing Qualification
- Formalised and structured business development & sales
training.
